At the end of their March 25th run in Mpls, Mike Watt announced that fIREHOSE would be back in October, and good to his word, they performed two shows in the 7th St Entry - which, if you’ve never been there - is the smaller room annexed to First Avenue.
For whatever reason, I was unable to make either show - the earlier all-ages set, or this later set for a very rowdy 21+ crowd. I’d like to give credit where it is due to the person who actually recorded this, and I sort of recognize the handwriting on the cassette that was given to me, but until I remember for sure which taper pal I got this from, I’m listing the taper and the gear as “unidentified”. Back then, there were a lot more folks in Mpls recording bands like this, and we generally hung out in the same circles, so it could be one of 3 or 4 people I’m thinking of. At any rate, the taper in question definitely pulled their weight for this set. It’s a noisy tape for sure - whatever mic / deck they used was barely able to withstand the barrage of sound from the stage, and the audience sounds pretty lit up as well. Sorry I had to miss it, but thanks to my anonymous friend, I was able to be there in spirit at least, and now you can be there too.
